"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
Join an A-Team (Assist Team) and get involved showing God's love in practical ways to people in need- both in our church and our community!
A-Teams are made up of volunteers who can occasionally help people with specific needs. Each volunteer is contacted via e-mail when a need arises, and can then respond to the team leader letting him know whether or not he/she is available for that specific project.
You can join one or more of these teams:
1) Moving (help people move)
2) Indoor Projects (help people repair problems inside their homes, e.g., patching holes, painting, simple plumbing)
3) Outdoor Projects (help people repair problems outside their homes, e.g., mowing lawns, gardening, painting)
4) Car Repair (help fix basic car problems)
5) Transportation (provide rides for people to appointments, shopping, picking up prescriptions)
6) Technology (help people with basic computer/phone/internet problems)
7) Monthly Meals (host a free hot meal for needy families in Camarillo every 3rd Thursday)
To sign up for any of the A-Teams, or for more information, please contact Pastor Robb at robb@calvarynexus.org
beyond sunday All-City Car Wash
THANK YOU to everyone who served at our All-City Car Wash Saturday morning!
God truly blessed the day as we had almost 250 volunteers and washed almost 400 cars! What really made the day special were the conversations and interactions we were able to have with folks from our community. MANY people were blown away that we washed their cars for free, and even provided free refreshments for them. They couldn't understand WHY anyone would do this- and that's when many of us were able to explain how we were simply showing them God's love. What a great time of getting out into our community and representing Jesus Christ!
I've heard all kinds of stories about how everyone worked so hard and so well together, how everybody had such great attitudes and hearts about what they were doing, and how people enjoyed serving others in this humble way. I know our heavenly Father was pleased with His children- it was apparent in how He blessed the day.
Again, thank you all for serving God by serving others, and letting your light shine in such a way that people would see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Stay tuned for more community service projects in the future!

beyond sunday Grocery Shoppe
February 26, 2011
THANK YOU to everyone who served at our Grocery Shoppe!
God really blessed the project:
-we served breakfast & provided over 6 tons of free groceries to 110 families (over 275 people)!
-over 200 volunteers participated!
I know God was very pleased with what His children did that day. Hurting people in our community experienced the love of God in some real, practical ways. Once again, it was amazing to see what the Body of Christ can accomplish as we serve Him together for His glory.
Make sure to put Saturday, June 18th on your calendar for our next beyond sunday community service project: Community Car Wash! We’ll have a fun time washing our neighbors cars, giving them free coffee & donuts, handing out info about our church our youth center (The Bridge), and raising money for an important charitable cause!
CLICK HERE to see some wonderful pictures of the day!
Check out the wonderful notes we received from a couple of guests:
Dearest Calvarians,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You couldn’t have scheduled your food-share event any more perfectly. The 28th's check, for us hourly and bimonthly folks was the lowest of the year and my son... and I aren’t going without thanks to the Lord’s work through your church. Your congregation really stepped up...what an amazing result. I was one of many families treated with not only dignity but grace and fun. My shopping guide...was so helpful and a joy to be with.
I could go on and on with my expressions of appreciation for your family helping mine. As a believer, I sensed the Holy Spirit’s presence the entire experience. Even the pancake breakfast resulted in an uplifting fellowship I’d not expected. I imagine your church will be blessed 7 times 70.
Thank you all so much for being such truly awesome friends!
God bless you all...

Here are a few stories from our volunteers:
Our very last visitors were a mother with two little girls. They had spent 30-45 minutes lost trying to find our location. When they arrived we had eggs and sausage, but the pancakes were gone. Shortly after their arrival, a few extra pancakes had been cooked and I asked if they would now like some. The little girl was so excited because she had prayed that God would provide her some pancakes and He did. The excitement and joy from that little girl made my day. They were also given the last gallon of milk to take with them and when it was placed on the table the little girl was so excited that they now had milk. These are the memories that I am taking with me. She was so excited to share what God had done for her.

I was stationed near the door and was planning on offering balloons to any of the children as they were leaving. Several of us were watching for the first people to leave after having eaten and filled up their grocery cart. I saw this tall slender woman with white hair, whose face was red and she appeared to be crying. I went outside and asked her if there was a problem and if I could help her. She shook her head, and having a hard time trying to talk, said everyone has been soooo nice to me. I said that was good and wished her a nice day. She shook her head and said I don't deserve this. I felt the need to give her a hug and said of course you do. Of all the things I saw this day, this image has stayed with me. This woman had felt the love of God and I was blessed to see the result.

Just had to share this divine appointment that God
orchestrated at the Grocery Shoppe last week.
To appreciate it the story, I need to share a bit of
background. In Spring of 2009 our family came
close to getting evicted. We were renting a nice
house, but (my husband’s) construction job came to
an end and many side jobs that he did went unpaid
by the homeowner. We couldn't afford to pay
our rent w/only one income, so as hard as it was,
we spoke to the landlord and made an arrangement
to move out and pay the rent we owed in monthly
payments.
Forward to February 26, 2011 - Calvary Nexus
Grocery Shoppe. I'm "matched" w/a Spanish
speaking lady. As were having breakfast
and making conversation, she asks me if I know of
anyone renting a home. Turns out she and her
family are being evicted. Her husband works
construction and work has been very slow. He
does side jobs but when the job is complete, the
homeowner is not paying him. Consequently, they
got behind on the rent and now the landowner has
filed a notice to evict. Wow, talk about understanding
exactly what someone else is going through. I was
able to share w/(her), my situation and how God
helped us find another place, how God will never leave
us if we surrender and trust in Him. As I shared w/ her she
began to weep, she told me that she thought she was
the only one that had gone through something like that.
I encouraged her to get prayer, which she did and she
also gave her heart to the Lord!!!!
God is SO good!

I just wanted to share this with you. Last Sunday a lady and her kids came to the Spanish Church to visit for first time. She said that someone from the "Boys and Girls Club" invited her son (who is about 12 yrs. old) to the breakfast/grocery shop. There an hispanic couple talked to her and invited her to the Spanish Church at Mobil Campus. She said that since that time she's been having this "feeling" that tells that she needs to go to church, but she's been just ignoring it. Last Sunday when she came, she said her husband and her had been fighting so she just took off with her kids and came to church. She asked for a bible since she has never owned one, Pastor Jorge gave her one, she also told me a little bit about her situation. She wants to start coming to church but her husband doesn't wants her to, but he wants her to bring the kids to church. I asked for her phone number and I will be calling her tomorrow to invite her to come again. I offered to pick her up but she says she can walk from her home. I though you would appreciate knowing how the breakfast/grocery shop was a blessing to one more mother and her kids. We need to keep her in prayer..., and I also would like prayer for myself for God to give me wisdom to know how to reach her. God is big time at work!
